what is the literature of Togo?
As it is easy to guess, the literary patrimony of Togo is essentially oral. The tradition of storytelling often operates with animal characters to provide moral lessons and stress the importance of community. Written literature is the product of colonial and postcolonial times, with such authors of novels and dramas as Kossi Efoui, Sami Tchak, and Kangni Alem. Another colonial legacy is the predominance of French, yet various local languages such as Ewe, Kabiyé, and Kabye are also aesthetically exploited.
Nonetheless, the most famous novel associated with Togo may be Ahmadou Kourouma's Les soleils de l'Independence, since many people believe it was strongly influenced by the time the Ivorian writer had spent in Togo.
