what is the literature of Seychelles?
Seychelles is a small islander culture of the Indian Ocean, bearing the traces of French colonisation. Also its postcolonial literature is written in French, although also the local Creole language is protected and cultivated.
One of the most famous Seychellois writers is Jeanne de Hennezel, the author of L’Esprit des Salines. Other notable writers include Philippe Samyn, who has written several novels, short stories, and plays; Antoine Abel, who is known for his poetry and his work as a journalist; and David Lawrence, who has written extensively about the natural history of Seychelles.
