Literatura portuguesa desde o Romantismo até à atualidade: em busca duma fórmula inovadora de apresentação do conteúdo histórico-literário ao público estrangeiro

The aim of this project was to create an innovative presentation of Portuguese literary history to the foreign public. The outcome was the book Mglawica Pessoa (Nebulosa Pessoa) published by Ossolineum in 2019. The innovation consists of the contamination of the academic genre of "literary history" with other genres of writing, mainly the essay, travelogue, personal memorial, and cookbook (the text contains various digressions concerning Portuguese cuisine and footnotes referring to emblematic Portuguese dishes). The publication is adapted to the Polish literary public by means of various cultural allusions, comparisons, and remarks bringing the Portuguese problems closer to the East European and national horizon.
The monograph consists of chapters covering Portuguese literary history from the Romantic breakthrough to literary novelties at the date of its publication. Those "hard", informative chapters are interwoven with "interludes" presenting specific topics or problems related to Portuguese culture. They are written from a personal perspective, including travel memories and notes concerning picturesque aspects of everyday life in Portugal and the changes observed over the years of my academic work and research in Portuguese literature.
